Evidence of life on Mars could come from Martian moon Phobos

ScienceDaily (June 29, 2012) ? A mission to a Martian moon could return with alien life, according to experts at Purdue University, but don't expect the invasion scenario presented by summer blockbusters like "Men in Black 3" or "Prometheus."

"We are talking little green microbes, not little green men," said Jay Melosh, a distinguished professor of earth, atmospheric and planetary sciences and physics and aerospace engineering at Purdue. "A sample from the moon Phobos, which is much easier to reach than the Red Planet itself, would almost surely contain Martian material blasted off from large asteroid impacts. If life on Mars exists or existed within the last 10 million years, a mission to Phobos could yield our first evidence of life beyond Earth."

Melosh led a team chosen by NASA's Planetary Protection Office to evaluate if a sample from Phobos could contain enough recent material from Mars to include viable Martian organisms. The study was commissioned to prepare for the failed 2011 Russian Phobos-Grunt mission, but there is continued international interest in a Phobos mission, he said. It will likely be a recurring topic as NASA reformulates its Mars Exploration Program.

A Phobos mission was discussed at NASA's Concepts and Approaches for Mars Exploration workshop and a report issued June 26 stated that the Martian moons are "important destinations that may provide much of the value of human surface exploration at reduced cost and risk."

Melosh collaborated with Kathleen Howell, the Hsu Lo Professor of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, and graduate students Loic Chappaz and Mar Vaquero on the project.

The researchers combined their expertise in impact cratering and orbital mechanics to determine how much material was displaced by particular asteroid impacts and whether individual particles would land on Phobos, the closer of the two Martian moons.

The team concluded that a 200-gram sample scooped from the surface of Phobos could contain, on average, about one-tenth of a milligram of Mars surface material launched in the past 10 million years and 50 billion individual particles from Mars. The same sample could contain as much as 50 milligrams of Mars surface material from the past 3.5 billion years.

"The time frames are important because it is thought that after 10 million years of exposure to the high levels of radiation on Phobos, any biologically active material would be destroyed," Howell said. "Of course older Martian material would still be rich with information, but there would be much less concern about bringing a viable organism back to Earth and necessary quarantine measures."

When an asteroid hits the surface of a planet it ejects a cone-shaped spray of surface material, similar to the splash created when someone does a cannonball into a swimming pool. These massive impacts pulverize the surface material and scatter high-speed fragments. The team calculated that the bulk of the fragments from such a blast on Mars would be particles about one-thousandth of a millimeter in diameter, or 100 times smaller than a grain of sand, but similar in size to terrestrial bacteria.

The team followed the possible paths the tiny particles could take as they were hurtled from the planet's surface through space, examining possible speeds, angles of departure and orbital forces. The team plotted more than 10 million trajectories and evaluated which would intercept Phobos and where they might land on the moon during its eight-hour orbit around Mars.

The probability of a particle landing on Phobos depends primarily on the power of the blast that launched it from the surface, Chappaz said.

"It is estimated that during the past 10 million years there have been at least four large impact events powerful enough to launch material into space, and we focused on several large craters as possible points of origin," he said. "It turns out that no matter where Phobos is in its orbit, it would have captured material from these powerful impact events."

After the team submitted its report, scientists identified a large, nearly 60-kilometers-in-diameter crater on Mars. The crater, named Mojave, is estimated to be less than 5 million years old, and its existence suggests that there would be an even greater amount of Martian material on Phobos that could contain viable organisms than estimated, Melosh said.

"It is not outside the realm of possibility that a sample could contain a dormant organism that might wake up when exposed to more favorable conditions on Earth," he said. "I participated in a study that found that living microbes can survive launch from impacts on rock, and other studies have shown some microscopic organisms can tolerate a lot of cosmic radiation."

This possibility has been a consideration for some time, and Michael Crichton's "The Andromeda Strain" brought it to public consciousness in 1969. However the movie scenario of a fatal contamination is unlikely, Melosh said.

"Approximately one ton of Martian material lands on Earth every year, " he said. "There is a lot more swapping back and forth of material within our solar system than people realize. In fact, we may owe our existence to life on Mars."

Howell also is optimistic that life is not unique to Earth.

"It's difficult to believe there hasn't been life somewhere out there in the vast expanse of space," Howell said. "The question is if the timeline overlaps with ours enough for us to recognize it. Even if we found no evidence of life in a sample from Phobos, it would not be a definitive answer to the question of whether or not there was life on Mars. There still may have been life that existed too long ago for us to detect it."

Melosh recently presented the team's findings at a joint NASA and European Space Agency meeting in Austria, and Chappaz will present the data at a meeting on July 14 in Mysore, India.

Google to train developers, hookup universities in new education programs

While it only just revealed Google Developers Live earlier last week, offering interactive broadcasts and tutorials, the hardware-dabbling giant has now kicked off two more programs to support its dev faithful. The Google App Engine, Google Drive, YouTube and several advertising APIs will all be covered by the Google Developers Academy, a new site hub that offers up training materials on the above, with more promised in the future. It's joined by a new University Consortium, aiming to collaborate between academics who use Google's tools and dev platforms in their research and teaching. Both sites are now live -- learners can hit up the sources for all the details.

(AP) ? The younger brother of Bernard Madoff, who became an icon for financial crime after the economy collapsed in 2008, is poised to plead guilty to criminal charges and take his place in history alongside the sibling with whom he shared an office for decades.

Peter Madoff, 66, was taken into custody at his lawyer's Manhattan office around 7 a.m. EDT Friday, according to FBI spokesman J. Peter Donald. The procedure was a prelude to a court appearance scheduled a few hours later.

The plea was to take place at same Manhattan courthouse where his now 74-year-old brother was taken away in handcuffs after he was condemned to 150 years in prison in 2009 for cheating thousands of people of billions of dollars. They are the only Madoff family members to face criminal charges.

The proceeding in which Madoff is agreeing to serve 10 years in prison and surrender his assets will let investigators show what they have learned about the largest Ponzi scheme ever prosecuted in U.S. history since Bernard Madoff revealed in December 2008 that his investment business was a sham.

The government has used the cooperation of six former employees and associates of the Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC to learn what went on inside the secretive business that caused close to $20 billion to vanish, leaving only a few hundred million dollars where bogus financial statements claimed there was $65 billion.

The plea by Peter Madoff to conspiracy and falsifying records charges links him again to his notorious brother, reviving a relationship in which he kept firmly behind the scenes as Bernard Madoff provided the face of the investment firm that attracted rich and famous clients with too-good-to-be-true returns.

In his 2009 guilty plea, the elder Madoff maintained that his brother had nothing to do with it ? and for more than three years, his brother stuck to the script.

"Peter Madoff is not Bernard Madoff" is how Peter Madoff's lawyers put it when defending him against harsh accusations leveled by a trustee appointed to recover stolen assets.

Details of how the multimillionaire decided to agree to a plea deal haven't been made public. His lawyer hasn't commented on it.

The FBI had been suspicious from the start about a man who had worked side by side with his scheming brother for more than 40 years.

Friends and business associates had described the brothers as very close. Their offices at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC in midtown Manhattan were a few feet apart. Their families vacationed together.

A graduate of Fordham Law School, Peter Madoff was the firm's top technocrat.

He was credited with creating a computer trading system for the firm in the late 1970s and early 1980s that was considered groundbreaking at the time. He ran the daily trading operation while his brother focused on the more secretive investment advisory arm.

He made a good enough living to own a $1.7 million home in Old Westbury, on Long Island, and a Palm Beach, Fla., vacation house that recently sold for $5.5 million.

When Bernard Madoff was arrested, Peter Madoff broke the news to Madoff Securities employees. And he was a co-signer on a $10 million bond that won his brother's release.

Through attorneys, he denied any wrongdoing.

But the denial didn't stop federal authorities from moving to freeze Peter Madoff's assets. He agreed not to dispose of his substantial fortune and promised to curtail his personal spending as the investigation moved forward. His living expenses were capped at $10,000 a month.

The court-appointed trustee also went on the attack, accusing Peter Madoff of financing his high-end lifestyle through the fraud.

A complaint filed in bankruptcy court alleged that the Madoff investment business had transferred more than $77 million to Peter Madoff. It said that between 1993 and 2008, he was paid a total of $36 million in salary and bonuses. And it identified other income for Peter Madoff as memberships to country clubs, including Glen Oaks Club in New York and one of Donald Trump's country clubs.

Given Peter Madoff's "level of financial experience and sophistication," the trustee alleged that he either knew or should have known that he reaped gains "derived from purported transactions grounded in fraud and deception."

The trustee also took aim at his daughter Shana, who once worked as an in-house lawyer at the firm and has denied involvement in the scheme.

"Had Peter, as the Chief Compliance Officer, or Shana, as Compliance Counsel, done their jobs properly, the fraud might have been revealed years earlier," the complaint said. "Either they failed completely to carry out their required supervisory/compliance roles, or they knew about the fraud but covered it up."

Defense lawyers responded by branding the complaint "a sensationalistic attempt to lump together members of the Madoff family and create liability by association." Their court papers claimed the scandal has "left Peter Madoff mired in litigation, and has devastated his family emotionally and financially."

Lakmahal 14 ? Different Perspectives: New Politics ? Rajiva ...

Esmond Wickremasinghe

By the time I knew him, my mother?s eldest brother Esmond was emphatically a supporter of the UNP. Soon after I was born he had been sent to New York by Sir John Kotelawala, to negotiate the entry of Ceylon into the United Nations, and family legend had it that it was the charm displayed by him and his wife that finally ensured our admission. Until then the Soviet Union had opposed this, on the grounds that we were still a colony, with the British still having troops here. But, long before Mr Bandaranaike came into power and asked them to leave, Esmond had succeeded in averting a Soviet veto, in terms of a compromise that saw the admission also of other countries that had been disputed.

Esmond was by then seen as Sir John?s right hand man, or rather one of them, for that wily old bird made use of several capable people. But none of them was able to prevent his shattering defeat in 1956, when he led his party to an election called prematurely. Blaming him however would be wrong, for a clear reading of what happened that year suggests that he was forced into calling an election he did not want, and contesting it on a platform he abhorred. Or, rather, blaming him alone ? he cannot escape all responsibility for allowing such a situation to arise, and letting himself be carried along by it, a practice that has been followed since by many other Sri Lankan leaders.

What happened was that Mr Bandaranaike had been campaigning to make Sinhala the official language, as part of his policy of empowering the common man. Unfortunately he did not make the same claims on behalf of the common Tamil people, but that was perhaps part of his understanding that the appeal of his party was confined to majority Sinhala areas. Initially at any rate, anti-Tamil rhetoric was not part of his agenda, his opposition being primarily to the English speaking elite.

The UNP saw which way the wind was blowing, and decided that they too wanted to change official language policy. Sir John however, appreciating perhaps the contribution of northern voters to the UNP, made a speech in Jaffna in which he announced that his party would make both Sinhala and Tamil official languages. This unfortunately roused the anger of the chauvinist wing of his party, and they demanded that he retract.

The Daily News yearbook has a graphic account of what happened then. The critique there of what the UNP did makes no bones about the role played by the wing that was to inherit the UNP, at any rate in the short term after Sir John withdrew in disgrace after his electoral defeat. The implication is that, at that stage at least, Lake House knew who exactly was to blame for the debacle.

What happened was that, following Sir John?s speech in Jaffna, the UNP sessions held early in 1956 in Kelaniya repudiated the policy he had enunciated, and instead voted to declare that the UNP too wanted Sinhala only. Furthermore, they decided that Parliament should be dissolved and that the party should seek a fresh mandate immediately to implement this policy. Tamil members of the UNP argued against it, and when they were defeated many resigned.

The campaign naturally then became racist in tone, with both the UNP and the MEP (the coalition led by Bandaranaike?s SLFP which contained elements more chauvinist than he was himself) competing with each other to win the Sinhala vote. Naturally Tamils throughout the country were appalled. In the North they voted en masse for the Federal Party, which had been roundly defeated by the UNP and its ally the Tamil Congress at the previous election, in 1952. In the south they turned to the left, which explains how the LSSP did much better than the UNP, which not only lost its parliamentary majority, but failed even to lead the opposition.

Sadly, the details of what happened in 1956 are long forgotten, and Mr Bandaranaike looms large in the collective memory as the villain who single-handedly created communal chaos. The role of his rivals, competing to raise the racist temperature ? a practice followed since then by all major political parties ? has long been forgotten.

And they did not stop there. After Sir John resigned, the UNP was in effect led by J R Jayewardene, even though he had lost his parliamentary seat. This was Kelaniya, where the sessions were held and where I have no doubt he did his bit to ensure that Sir John had to eat his words regarding parity of status for the two languages. The two of them loathed each other, since Sir John held J R largely responsible for the palace coup whereby he had been passed over for the Premiership when D S Senanayake died and Dudley Senanayake was appointed instead; and J R, who had hoped to succeed when Dudley suddenly resigned, was deeply upset when Dudley himself recommended that Sir John replace him.

What role if any Esmond played in all this I do not know. By the eighties, when I used to discuss politics with him seriously ? or relatively seriously, for he had an irrepressible sense of humour, and sometimes I wasn?t sure whether he really meant what he said, as when he suggested that N G P Panditharatne might be the best successor to J R ? he was very definitely a J R votary. And I knew that he had been closely associated with J R in the sixties too, when Dudley Senanayake had first fallen out with J R and also with Esmond.

But there were those in between years in the fifties when Dudley Senanayake had repudiated J R and opted for Sir John, and Esmond had served the latter faithfully. And certainly, when tensions began to appear in the UNP over language policy, Esmond?s entire upbringing would have made him likely to approve of Sir John?s more pluralistic approach. Given the manner in which the Daily News handbook summed up the events of 1956, even if Esmond did not interfere with the account penned by his staff, I don?t supposeLakeHouse, which he in effect ran in those days, would have presented an interpretation which he would have deplored.

Why then did he subsequently devote himself so thoroughly to J R? It is a conundrum that must be considered at length, for it went so thoroughly against everything his family stood for, as exemplified most prominently by Lakshman?s unsparing critique of the racism that reached such monstrous proportions as the years went on. Here I can only mention Lakshman?s description of his decision to come back toSri Lankajust before that momentous period, after he had become a priest and was happily engaged in a Ministry in the deprived East End of London, and pondering marriage to an English girl.

Esmond, he said, had advised him, on one of his flying visits through London, to come back quickly, for dramatic changes were going to take place soon. If he didn?t, he would find himself left behind in a different world, unable to make the transition if he did return later.

Lakshman never regretted his decision to come back, though years later when I met the girl he might have married ? who came to my 50th birthday party, 20 years after Lakshman himself had died ? I could understand how difficult it had been. But once he had come back, Lakshman did not swerve from the world view with which he had started, encompassing a patriotism based on inclusivity. Sadly, his much more experienced older brother was unable, in the political turmoil that resulted, to resist the blandishment of different sirens.

Parents' work-life stress hinders healthy eating

Monday, June 25, 2012

In a tight economy, with fewer jobs, many people end up working harder and sacrificing more to stay employed. A new study finds that one of those sacrifices is sometimes their own and their family's nutrition.

While prior studies have implicated working mothers in providing less healthy family food environments, this is one of the first studies of family nutrition to look at fathers ? in particular a population of urban fathers, who face higher rates of unemployment and under-employment. According to lead author Katherine Bauer, an assistant professor of public health and researcher at Temple's Center for Obesity Research and Education, the study is also one of the first to look at work/family conflict for both parents and to focus on families of adolescents.

Of the 3,709 parents of adolescents surveyed by the researchers ? many of whom were from a racial or ethnic minority group and lower income ? only 64 percent of fathers and 46 percent of mothers were employed full-time.

Mothers employed full-time "reported fewer family meals, more frequent fast food for family meals, less frequent encouragement of their adolescents' healthful eating, lower fruit and vegetable intake and less time spent on food preparation, compared to part-time and not-employed mothers," said Bauer. Meanwhile, the only difference among fathers by employment status was that full-time employed fathers reported significantly fewer hours of food preparation than part-time or not working fathers. However, regardless of employment status, mothers were spending more hours on food preparation than fathers.

When looking at the role of work-life stress, for both moms and dads greater stress levels appeared to interfere with healthful eating opportunities. For example, parents experiencing high levels of work-life stress reported having one and a half fewer family meals per week and eating half a serving less of fruits and vegetables per day, as compared to parents with low levels of work-life stress.

Bauer noted that over time these differences can add up to have a big impact on parents' and children's health. She's careful to note, however, that the burden of this problem not fall solely on mothers, and instead be approached holistically by the whole family, the community and society.

"Our work underlined the need to take into account the competing pressures that so many families ? especially those that are lower income ? are experiencing," said Bauer. "There's a great need to help parents find realistic and sustainable ways to feed their families more healthfully while taking into consideration all of the stresses on parents these days."

She suggests that spouses, partners and teenagers chip in to help with grocery shopping and preparing and serving healthy family meals.

"We need to teach kids how to cook," said Bauer. "We know if kids have cooking skills and good eating habits, not only will they be healthier, but as adults they'll put those skills to use to feed their own children more healthfully."

"Parental employment and work-family stress: Associations with family food environments" was recently published online in Social Science and Medicine. The study was funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Facebook lowering age restriction? Will your toddler friend you?

Facebook is reportedly exploring lower age restrictions to allow the under-13 set to get in on the social network. Reality is, many under age are already using it ? but do they really need it?

By Stephanie Hanes,?Correspondent / June 4, 2012

Facebook might lower age restrictions, allowing under 13 children to have their own pages, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Now, we hear, parents of younger kids can start to get worried, too.? (Or excited, if you fall in the ?social networking is good for children? camp.? Which we respect, also.)

The Wall Street Journal reported today that Facebook may do away with its (poorly enforced) age restrictions, allowing users to be less than 13 years old.?

RELATED: Are you Helicopter Parent? Take our quiz!

With parental consent, of course.

According to sources at the social networking site, the Journal reported, Facebook is exploring technology that would connect younger children?s profiles to their parents? accounts, allowing mom and dad to control Junior?s applications and to approve (or reject) his ?friends.?

It would also let Junior buy games and other services and link those charges back to his parent?s account.?

Awesome.

Clearly the social good in mind there.

Anyhow, a lot of people who study social media say this expanded access is a smart move. A 2011 Consumer Reports study found that 7.5 million people younger than 13 already use Facebook, and often with parental knowledge. It would be far easier to apply proper privacy settings if Facebook knew its users? true ages.

And for better or worse, many technology-watchers say, people today communicate over Facebook. That?s true for adults, teens, and, increasingly, younger children. Rather than bury one's head in the sand, they say, it's better to embrace the reality and encourage safe online communication.

But there are others who worry that Facebook is simply trying to expand its marketing audience and that this will open yet another avenue of unregulated electronic advertising to kids.?

"With the growing concerns and pressure around Facebook's business model, the company appears to be doing whatever it takes to identify new revenue streams and short-term corporate profits to impress spooked shareholders," said the CEO of advocacy group Common Sense Media, James Steyer, in a statement.

"But here's the most important issue: There is absolutely no proof of any meaningful social or educational value of Facebook for children under 13. Indeed, there are very legitimate concerns about privacy as well as the impact on the social, emotional and cognitive development of children. What Facebook is proposing is similar to the strategies used by Big Tobacco in appealing to young people ? try to hook kids early, build your brand, and you have a customer for life.

"What's next? Facebook for toddlers?"

Indeed, why wouldn?t there be?? There is an explosion iPhone and iPad aps for toddlers, why not a profile page, as well??

Ellen Davis: Breathing Eternity Waves Into Time, Part One

Being is the beginning of becoming, and the middle and each moment along the way.
Being one in the dance, there is only one movement: now.
The Divine as us through mulitplicity and diversity is Becoming in time and Being in eternity.
You are breathing eternity waves into time, beingness waves into becoming.
Gratitude.

The footprints we leave, danced in that awareness, change the face of the earth, as all footprints do. Yet these create a path toward the freedom that is our birthright and the freedom from which they come.

As we know ourselves in the fullness of this light, all tendencies of separation and disconnection that have been born from forgetting or not knowing dissolve. The discipline to that service is a dance enabling an integrating force and undivided awareness through manifestation.

Time is eternity's medium to realize itself.
Process is its dance and delight.
Where does the circle begin or end?
There is only one movement: now --
Yet, each second that passes, nothing is the same.

Permanence and Impermanence

The appearance of permanence and all that strives toward it in manifestation is a reflection of what we essentially realize as the changeless brahman. Paradoxically, the ever-present immutable, in becoming form, becomes impermanent. Archetypally speaking, the unchangeable being-ness where Shiva and the immutable live, resting in its undifferentiated nature, become the pole to the fluidity of Spirit, the ever-changing Shakti.

In spirit's movement towards itself in form,
the apparent permanence of matter is in truth impermanent.
In spirit's movement within the awareness of its empty formless nature,
it is impermanent, fluid, and always changing in appearance,
and in truth permanent, changeless, Brahman.

Facing the conditions of life, with an awareness that is prior to those conditions, informs a relaxed, balanced and integral experience of manifestation. Realizing akshara purusha (the immutable soul) and kshara purusha (the mutable soul) as not two while also breathing in awareness of their distinctions -- and realizing the immutable soul that always stands behind and through the mutable, changeable soul -- is part and parcel of an undivided awareness. Becoming is the matrix through which Being realizes itself, and vice versa. In seeing this we can see the inherency of each in the other, and the inherency of sat (being), chit (consciousnes), and ananda (essential love and bliss), in each other. This awareness informs a more integral experience of manifestation.

I have thought it ironic that the desire for permanence, expressed through the procreative "urge to merge," the desire to own, or the resistance to change, for example, is a sometimes distorted expression of what I intuit we sense of the unchanging brahman and our desire to rest in that awareness. At an essential level, the seeds of the will to do that is the divine purusha actualizing itself through the divine prakiti. Yet, without realizing it is that moving toward its self experience and realization, the more that we resist change, hold on and get attached, the more we concretize our illusions of separation, and the more we identify with the outcomes of impermanence. That which never "changes," unconditioned self, our original face, the immutable ground of being, is utterly fluid in manifestation and realizes that there is nothing to hold on to and no one that needs to hold on.

Isn't it funny that the more we strive for permanence and feed our attachments to that, the more temporally bound we become where we are faced with impermanence and the mortalities of life in its constant changing? And the more that we allow flow, change and surrender to the unknown mysteries, the more we touch the eternal unchanging ground of being?

Perhaps at the most causal levels or in the most innocent sense, the striving for permanence is spirit's unchanging, immutable nature seeking to recognize itself in form. When there is an identification with a separated self-sense, or the contraction that is the self-referencing through differentiation, separation and resistance, it concretizes a sense of impermanence. When there is insecurity with the unknown and sense of this separation, we try and make what is impermanent and illusory something permanent. We are forever trying to create an insurance polity that will guarantee the quality of our next moment, the life of our next moment, our next moment... There is never the next moment. There is only now.

In the quest for happiness
most try to tame impermanence
so that it becomes permanent.
This is like an ocean wave trying to
stop itself and all of the other waves around it from cresting.
It is time trying to freeze itself.
Be the ocean wave and watch the waves
arise and fall within you

In part two I will discuss the notions of sudden vs. gradual awakening and some of the pitfalls in a goal-oriented apporach to awakening that mythologizes and objectifies enlightenment. Please feel free to enter into discussion and leave comments. I will reply here.

Communication is the backbone of any business today. So is true about social networks. Information technology, especially internet, has revolutionized the way we used to communicate a few decades ago. Communication has become faster than ever and absolutely noise free. It will be ridiculous if you still present meagre pretexts such as miscommunication or loss of information in your business or personal relations. Let that never be with you. There are many efficient office phones systems available in Florida which can add accuracy and speed to your communications such as Nortel Norstar, Nortel Meridian, Avaya, Cisco, NEC, Samsung, BCM, VOIP Phones and more. Here are some things you should know about these phones systems:

Nortel -- Norstar by Nortel -- Avaya is one of the most sold phone system globally today. More than 9 million users have supported these phoning systems. Not because it is the cheapest one but because of its quality and reliability. That is what businesses, and even individuals are looking for today. Price comes second. These office phones are also known by other name Nortel Avaya Meridan are not only the most sold in Miami, Florida, but tops the list in more than 70 other countries globally.

Samsung Business Phone Systems -- Samsung is a globally reputed brand in communication systems. It offers multiple phoning systems that can make your workplace more efficient and productive. For example its new OfficeServ model number 7200-S is expandable with your growing business needs. Thus it can be adjusted to your size of business and budget anytime. You can enjoy more benefits if you could get these phone systems integrated with VoIP networks. BCM -- stands for Business Communications Manager. Developed by Nortel this is an advanced voice over telephone system with flexibility of 50 to 1000 connections. This system comes with many great features such as call centre management, unified messaging, auto attendant, music on-hold, VoIP and an inbuilt fax receiving system.

VoIP - Internet has certainly added speed to web-browsing, and has facilitated data exchange and video chatting too. Another benefit that small business can avail is VoIP i.e. Voice over Internet Protocol. It converts voice signals into digital signals and enables verbal conversations over internet. This enables business users cut their telephone bills considerably. This service is of much advantage for those who have to often make long distance calls and incur heavy amount. VoIP makes it all possible at negligible prices.

There are many more advanced telephone systems available today with their own infrastructure requirements. But you can only benefit from these systems if you could get them installed correctly by an expert service provider. You need to know how to choose a communication service provider. Certainly all these phoning systems are quite good and relied for their quality but you cannot extract their best benefits until you choose the best service provider for their installation and implementation. The service provider must have thorough knowledge and experience in designing, building and maintaining both copper and fibre optic cable network and infrastructure. You should also check if the service provider has ever installed phoning systems for your size of business.
