To ensure greater universal recognition and understanding, Sedex, through consultation with members and Transparency International, has decided to change the name of its Business Practices pillar to Business Ethics.
We believe this change will help all Sedex members better understand the requirements of their customers and their own responsibilities. Through this improved understanding we hope greater transparency can be achieved.
The term Business Ethics applies to all aspects of business conduct and is already widely used by the Institute of Business Ethics and in numerous company codes of conduct.
This change will be implemented in the Sedex system from Thursday 19 July, 2012.?The SMETA auditing documents will be updated as soon as possible.
The change relates to the pillar name only. No questions within the SAQ will be changed and it will not impact any other aspects of the Sedex system such as reporting or risk assessment.??
