Jazz assistant coach arrested in NC

SALT LAKE CITY ? Utah Jazz assistant coach Sidney Lowe was arrested Monday on charges of failing to file state tax returns for three years.

Lowe faces three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file a North Carolina income tax return for 2009, 2010 and 2011, and was placed under a $10,000 bond, according to WRAL. A court appearance has been scheduled for March 19.

Lowe began his coaching career in 1991 with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has also coached the Cleveland Cavaliers, Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons. He was the head men's basketball coach at North Carolina State University from 2006?2011 and has been with the Jazz since 2011.

Lowe had an overall record of 86?78 at N.C. State, including a 25?55 record in conference play. He resigned as head coach at the end of the 2011 season.

A Utah Jazz spokesman said the team was aware of Lowe's arrest, but had no comment.
