One Direction mania hit Rockefeller Plaza Tuesday morning as fans gathered to see the blockbuster boy band on TODAY.
Fresh off the release of their latest studio album, "Take Me Home," Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson performed several of their hits, including their chart-topping earworm, "What Makes You Beautiful," and the first single off the new album, "Live While We're Young."
"For us, it's unbelievable to see this kind of support," Harry said.
In fact, they hope their fans consider their new release as a sort of compensation for that support.
"We waited a long time to get an album out for the fans, and they deserve it," Liam said. "They've worked so hard for us over the last year and a half."
But the guys did more than just perform and thank the screaming crowd -- they also had a big announcement to make.
"We are going to do our first ever movie," Niall revealed. "It's going to be in 3D, and it's coming to cinemas near you on (Aug. 30) 2013."
That's not all that's on the way from the young hitmakers. In February, the group will kick off their second world tour, with over 100 shows planned so far.
